May Board Meeting Highlights

Treasurer’s report was approved.  Mansfeldt noted receipts included $50 from Family Fair, but we had an additional $152.96 expense for the Family Fair.  Mansfeldt said our Kiwanis liability insurance covers accidents at any of our Kiwanis sponsored projects.  He also said the Ispeming-Pioneer Club raises most of the $4,000 Peanut Day money by pre-sales.  As a fund raiser, Brooks suggested that we have a box downtown in which people might put their returnable cans and bottles; Brooks will research the program in Tamarack City.  Griff expressed concern our weekly meeting announcements are not in the Gazette.  Slater felt we should have Kiwanis Nailbender signs put up in yards where ramps are built.  The RIF grant usually comes in late August.   Swift asked for pictures of Kiwanis projects that could be used in the display cabinet.  The next “Fish fry” will be at Quincy’s Restaurant on Friday, May 21.

At our annual club meeting on May 5, Secretary Griff expressed grave concern that attendance at our regular meetings is poor.  We contracted with the Bluffs that we would pay the meals for at least 20 persons at each meeting, but this number is rarely met.

Spiritual Vitamin

A young man asked God how long a million years was.  God replied, “A million years to me is like a single second in your time.”  Then the young man asked God what a million dollars was to him.  God replied, “A million dollars to me is like s single penny to you.”  Then the young man got his courage up and asked?”  “God, could I have one of your pennies?”  God smiled and replied, “Certainly, just a second.”
